01 Overview
CourtScorer is a live pickleball scoreboard app. It's designed to run entirely on your device: it displays a scoreboard, accepts input from your device's touchscreen or from a paired Bluetooth remote, and — if you enable it — speaks the score aloud.
CourtScorer does not require an account, does not collect personal information, and does not send match data to any server. Everything the app needs to function stays on your device.
02 Information we collect
CourtScorer does not collect any personal data. Specifically, the app does not collect, transmit, or store:
- Your name, email address, or any account or contact information — CourtScorer does not require or offer account creation or sign-in.
- Match data, scores, team names, or configuration settings on any server — this information is stored locally on your device only.
- Location data.
- Photos, contacts, or any other data from your device.
- Usage analytics, diagnostics, or crash reports.
CourtScorer does not display advertising and does not share information with advertising networks, because it does not collect any information to share.
03 Permissions we request
CourtScorer does not request or use any special device permissions.
- Bluetooth — Whilst CourtScorer uses Bluetooth commands to control the app, it does not connect to Bluetooth directly and only detects how your device interprets the commands, so it does not need any special permissions to do this. The app is not used to identify, track, or store information about you or nearby devices.
- Microphone — CourtScorer does not currently use the microphone or make any voice recordings, so this permission is not needed. If CourtScorer's Speak Scores feature is enabled, the app uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine to read the score aloud through the device speaker or a connected Bluetooth audio device. This happens entirely on-device and does not involve a microphone, voice recording, or any data being sent off your device.In the future the app may be updated to allow voice commands to report rally wins/loses, at which point this permission will be needed.
04 How your data is stored
Match settings (such as team names, format, and scoring rules) and in-progress or historical scores are stored locally on your device only, using standard on-device app storage. This data is never transmitted to CourtScorer or to any third party.
Uninstalling the app removes this locally stored data from your device, consistent with standard iOS and Android app behavior.
05 Third-party services
CourtScorer does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting software development kits (SDKs). We don't use tools such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or similar services.
The app may interact with Bluetooth accessories you choose to pair (earphones, media remotes, camera shutter remotes, or speakers). CourtScorer only sends and receives standard button-press and audio signals to these devices; it does not access any other data from them, and any privacy practices of the accessory manufacturer's own companion app or hardware are outside CourtScorer's control.
06 Children's privacy
CourtScorer does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information from any user. The app is not directed specifically at children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region), and contains no chat, social, or user-generated content features.
If you believe a child has provided personal information through CourtScorer, please contact us using the details below — though as noted above, CourtScorer is not designed to collect such information in the first place.
07 Your rights and choices
Because CourtScorer does not collect, store, or process personal data on any server, there is no personal data held by us for you to access, correct, export, or request deletion of under frameworks such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA.
Any match data created within the app lives entirely on your device, under your control. You can clear it at any time by resetting a match in-app or by uninstalling the app.
You can revoke CourtScorer's Bluetooth permission at any time through your device's system settings; doing so will prevent the app from connecting to a remote or Bluetooth audio device until permission is granted again.
08 Data security
Because CourtScorer does not transmit personal or match data off your device, there is no server-side data store for us to secure on your behalf. Data stored locally on your device is protected by the security features of your device's operating system (such as device passcode, encryption, or app sandboxing), consistent with standard iOS and Android app behavior.
09 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if CourtScorer adds a new feature that changes what data it accesses. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
